Plant description
A popular, spreading, thorny tree with mid-green, three- to five-lobed leaves and a profusion of large, lightly scented, bright red flowers with creamy centres in late spring, popular with bees and butterflies. It is an ideal plant for a range of soil conditions (including chalk), and it is tough enough to cope with exposed sites once established, as well as city pollution and coastal conditions. ‘Crimson Cloud’ produces tiny red berries in autumn, great for attracting birds.
