Plant description
This pretty perennial produces loose clusters of trumpet-shaped flowers from midsummer to autumn, topping the upright stems that rise above its narrow, cream-striped leaves. ‘Silver Lace’ is often commonly referred to as ‘society garlic’, as like all Tulbaghias it is closely related to onions and garlic – and therefore its foliage is aromatic. Don’t let that put you off though, as it looks really lovely towards the front of a sunny border – and when planted beneath roses, it can even help repel pests!
